How do I treat a sunburn?
Ouch! You forgot to put sunscreen on your bare shoulders and didn't even realize how sunny it was, and now your skin is sunburned. What to do now? Here is a good tip for damage control:
1 Mix one cup of whole milk and one cup of water in ice cubes.
2 Soak a washcloth in the mixture.
3 Apply washcloth to irritated skin for five minutes.
After you skin cools down, apply a healing ointment such as aloe vera and remember to add extra sun protection while you are healing.
Feed your skin with watermelon...
Be sure to get your fill of juicy watermelon this season! It's hydrating and full of antioxidant nutrients that your skin will love, including lycopene, vitamin C, and beta carotene. In particular, lycopene, the antioxidant that gives watermelon it's brilliant color, may boost protection against sun-related skin damage. Store uncut watermelons at room temperature -- they will continue to develop nutrients after picking, but refrigeration halts the process.
